Review on Seagate ST3500601XSRK 500 GB eSATA External Hard Drive - High Performance and Retail Ready by Adam Roman

Standalone eSATA external hard drive and eSata interface card

It seems the "market" is now moving towards external SATA hard drives that connect via USB or Firewire, but the Using the eSata interface seems to offer an advantage faster data transfer. I take quite a lot of relatively high-resolution digital images, which means there's a lot of data to store (for "security reasons" I store duplicates on two different drives). The advantage of this package is that it includes a dual port from Promise Technologies. eSata interface card (PCI bus). If you have a "desktop" PC (with a free PCI slot) and need a pair of external eSata interfaces and can use an external standalone hard drive with eSata interface, this might be a good solution. Selection. When you consider how much it costs to buy a dual-port eSata interface, that means you can get a standalone 500GB SATA drive for about the same price that "internal" drives sell for will. For example, I read a review that said some "backup" companion software didn't work properly, but since I'm only interested in the hardware, that's not a problem for me. The first of these Seagate packages gave me both an eSata card (for my "old" PC) and an external drive. Now I've bought a second one to add an external eSATA interface to my "new" PC and it gives me another drive for more storage.

Pros
  • Durable finish
Cons
  • Almost everything available
