Review on Proto J9954-NA General Purpose Tool Box by Stanley Proto by Brett Zhu

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Good product - perfect for my needs.

I bought this tool box because it was big enough for my needs. It's the perfect size despite the incorrect measurements in the product description and the rather inaccurate (lower) measurements in the user's sizing response. FYI: Accurately Measured Dimensions --- Interior: The bottom of the box front to back (D), left to right (L), and the height of the box bottom to top (H) is 6-1/16" T x 13-15/16"L x 6-7/16"H. The storage tray rests on raised brackets 3-15/16" above the bottom of the box. Inner tray dimensions: 5-3/8" (D) x 13-1/4" (L) x 1-3/8" (H). Box external dimensions: 6-1/8" ( D)) x 14-1/8"(L) x 6-1/2"(H) without handle. The box is solid (made of 22-gauge steel), well-made inside and out, and feels solid. The handle, hinge and latch work well and the lid fits snugly into the case. The only issue I had with the box is small voids where the bottom, back and sides fold in to form corners. This doesn't appear to be a design issue, but it does allow any liquid spilled into the box to drain out of these small holes. I've already applied four small strokes of epoxy to seal those corner gaps. I am very happy with this toolbox and would buy it again if my needs were justified. However, I found the box a bit overpriced considering it's smaller than most large portable tool boxes that cost about the same.

Pros
  • Ideal for a small home
Cons
  • A few small items
