I am very satisfied with this product.

Despite the bad reviews I am very satisfied with the product. I spent quite a bit trying to figure out what diameter would fit and I ordered one and had no issues with the threads on my lens. Of course, this is a thin thread to neatly attach the filter to the lens. So I spent about an hour on this today and there is a learning curve with this lens. First, the autofocus doesn't work with this lens. You zoom in on the subject, so your camera's autofocus is off. I switch the camera to manual focus mode, focus on macro photography, and move the entire camera back and forth until the subject I want to capture is in focus. Also, if you see people doing macros on YouTube, almost every time they use a flash and some kind of diffuser. My results improved dramatically once I started using Flash. Using flash, I slowed the shutter speed down to a fraction and was able to capture the subject without motion blur. The last trick I learned today is that I was able to get great results with a 50mm to 450mm zoom. Note that this lens shortens the distance between the camera and the subject. In the zoom range without this lens, I should be 5 feet from the camera to the subject. So a 10x close-up makes that distance 10x shorter. 5ft = 60in 60in / 10 = 6in, so I had to be 6in from the subject with the lens for the subject to be in focus. And finally, this is a close-up lens. It narrows the focus area, i.e. the insect's leg is blurred, but the insect's snout is in focus. That's all. After experimenting with the Opteka 10x Close Up achromatic lens I was impressed and it certainly is an inexpensive entry into the world of macro photography. Mind you, this is not an expensive macro lens. But it's enough for my purposes. My 4 stars for the autofocus don't work, but I can live with that. Here are a few photos taken with the lens.
