While the opening around the ears has nice soft edging, the edges of the mask going around the back of the face/jaw area is NOT lined. The mask netting is coarse and had hundreds of poky points which abraded my Thoroughbreds face. Fortunately my wife is good at sowing and she added a soft fabric "hem" around the mask. I have purchased other masks of this brand that were fully hemmed around all edges - so I am unsure if this one slipped thru unfinished due to poor quality control, or whether to reduce production cost, they simply are skipping this step. Either way - a major disappointment.
