Good mask, but edges around face are not protected

While the opening around the ears has nice soft edging, the edges of the mask going around the back of the face/jaw area is NOT lined. The mask netting is coarse and had hundreds of poky points which abraded my Thoroughbreds face. Fortunately my wife is good at sowing and she added a soft fabric "hem" around the mask. I have purchased other masks of this brand that were fully hemmed around all edges - so I am unsure if this one slipped thru unfinished due to poor quality control, or whether to…

Pros
  • I usually get a couple Seasons out of this product usually three
Cons
  • This seemed to run BIGGER than average horse size, which allows flies to creep in under the mask.

I love this mask in my review

I love this mask! It is well-made, keeps the flies off and lasts a long time. I have tried other brands and none of them are as durable or as effective. I highly recommend the Farnam SuperMask II Horse Fly Mask for your horse(s), too!

Pros
  • Fits great
Cons
  • The structured styling may cause a horse to become fussy or uncomfortable during riding sessions

Good mask. - my new review

This mask arrived on time and is exactly what I was expecting. The mask works good, but I had to shape them a little out of the box so that the eye "points" were poked out away from the face correctly. Not a big issue, took less than 15 minutes. I bought three of the horse size. Although all work, one is a little tight on my larger horse.

Pros
  • Great fly mask and super seller! Would definitely buy from again.
Cons
  • Say it's for a "horse", but is small, it's is not. Standard horse size unless I misread it.

Stops Flies good for me

I like these because the top is open where the ears go, not just ear holes. The forelocks don't get all messed up and the flies are not in their eyes.

Pros
  • Great mask, is very durable.
Cons
  • The full face coverage may impede a horse's ability to communicate with their rider, potentially causing miscommunication or confusion

Runs small good for me

This fly mask runs a little on the small size. I have 15.3 TB gelding with a head that is between a cobb and horse size on bridles, so I thought the horse size would be perfect. The velcro could only be fastened halfway, so I'm hoping it will with stand his antics in the pasture!

Pros
  • Great Fly mask, works as advertised
Cons
  • Came off within an hour.

Runs large but works

I had to use pliers to pull the velcro apart under his chin and get the mask off. I know another horse can't take the mask off, but this is ridiculous. I can't get it off either. Other than that, the mask is well designed, fits my 16 hh friesian who has a rather long narrow head. I bought the "horse" size.

Pros
  • Excellent
Cons
  • The eye protection may fog up or become cloudy, obstructing a horse's vision

Not the item I ordered

The product is great. The shipping was fast. But, it was not what I ordered. I ordered the fly mask with ears. The one I received had no ears.

Pros
  • Works well!
Cons
  • The mask may restrict a horse's vision, making it difficult for them to navigate their surroundings

Pretty flimsy compared to others

These masks are a little on the flimsy side compared to some we use. If your animal likes to try and rub their mask off on corral panels and what not, the mesh will wear out really quickly. We had one last only a day before becoming unusable when one of our geldings rubbed it on a corral panel bolt. Other brands we've used seem to last nearly the entire fly season with the same horses and same abuse. Perhaps if your animal is not as feisty as ours are, the light construction would be less of a…

Cons

Great for larger heads

This is a great mask. I specifically buy this style and design for my thoroughbred quarter horse mare because her head is a tad bigger than average. I like how this mask cinches down nicely around her muzzle while giving ample space around her eyes. Very comfortable fit for her. And, she's not overly tough on masks, but if she rubs on wire fencing, she can wear a hole over the course of the summer. But, that's okay! I never expect to get more than one summer out of a fly mask. Therefore, for the

Pros
  • My horses love these masks.
Cons
  • The mask may be difficult to clean and maintain, requiring special tools or equipment
