Review on πŸ“ Tenhulzen Automotive - High-Precision Digital Hands-Free Camber/Caster Gauge, Accurate to 0.1 Degrees, No Turn Plates Required! by Jesse Jewett

Revainrating 5 out of 5

REALLY easy to use, reproducible results, nothing else needed

Nicely finished, snazzy design, "Insert built-in" brilliantly simple, makes roll measurement very easy. You really don't need a turntable. It's one of those tools that looks very similar to competing tools, but once you actually use it, the differences become apparent and it's well worth the extra money. Any similar tool design is only useful if you can actually set camber with the wheel on the car and the car on the ground, but this tool is designed to be hand _or_ attached and is very easy to use. manual that there is no point in doing this. Again, this is a case of "if you use it, you'll see". where the top pad should touch the rim and you're done. For the most part, even that doesn't matter (I didn't realize it until I used this tool). Due to the design and the electronic sensor, the floor needs to be reasonably level (so as not to affect the car's seating position). but not very smooth. This tool is bulky, and while it looks like it can be folded, it really isn't. So it is cumbersome to store. As with the 1100p fingerplates, I felt the need to spend 5 minutes deburring, but that's basically my OCD. I would consider a 3300p camber/caster/toe combo. They also have a "rotary plates" /wheel angle function and based on using this tool and the 1100p pegs I'm assuming the 3300p is almost as easy to use as this tool and (with a little care) just as accurate. The big difference is that when measuring caster/camber with the 3300p you need to be careful to hold the tool perpendicular to the wheel surface and vertical or horizontal. With the three contact points of this tool, you automatically align yourself with the surface of the wheel.

Pros
  • Hands-free operation
Cons
  • Very expensive
