After using this corkscrew successfully several times I decided that I liked it compared to several other corkscrews we own. I found it easy to insert a wire corkscrew by pushing the lever down, and a quick upward movement of the lever pulls the cork out of even a reused cork. Removing the cork from the corkscrew was easy. Grab the handle, pull the lever all the way up and the cork will slide off easily. I was surprised when I opened the packaging and found that the corkscrew is very large and its storage case makes it even larger. The reservoir is a problem when finding a place for a corkscrew. I was also surprised that the corkscrew came without instructions. Well, it comes with a few images that are unlikely to be definitive. As you can imagine, my first experience without a guide was clearly useless. However, with some perseverance and a little experimentation, it turned out that removing the cork is very easy. All I had to do was place the corkscrew on the neck of the bottle, squeeze the handle, and pull the lever down in one quick motion. Then lift the lever with another quick motion, which was easy to do on the bottles I've opened. When I first tried to pull the cork out of a corkscrew, I struggled. I turned out to be making it harder than it should have been (thanks to the lack of instructions here). To remove the cork, simply squeeze the handle like you would insert a corkscrew and release the handle in one quick motion. The cork slipped off a few times when I tried it with very little effort. I also managed to screw up cutting the foil the first time I tried using a separate foil cutter. The second time, I held the cutter against the bottle as I lifted it, and the cut film came off easily. This set also includes a spare wire corkscrew. I removed the installed corkscrew to see how difficult it is to swap out. Replacement takes a few minutes, so try not to damage the installed corkscrew. Again, clear instructions would be a huge plus. While the display case is hardly pretty, the corkscrew is attractive with its heavy black plastic and brushed metal finish. So among the pros is the simple extraction of the corkscrew, both from the bottle and from the corkscrew. The cutter is large and cuts through foil quickly once you learn how to use it. Cons - size, although there are other corkscrews of a similar size, and lack of instructions. Many people do not have room for such a large corkscrew. The lack of instructions is annoying. I'd rather have clear instructions than figure out how to get the device working. So, should you buy this corkscrew? It depends on how much wine you open. If you open a lot of wine bottles, this corkscrew can be a great addition to your kitchen. If you're looking for something to display, the plastic container doesn't look good, so you need to find a better way to display the corkscrew. Even if you think the lack of instructions will be a problem, then you definitely don't need this corkscrew. We love this corkscrew and it just became my favorite of the four we currently own due to the ease of pulling the cork out, even the reusable corks. I also love how easily the cork comes off the corkscrew now that I know how to do it. After all, a corkscrew is attractive, but a display case is not. Enjoy!
