Review on 🖥️ LG Electronics 43UD79-B LED Lit Monitor - 42.5", 3840X2160P, Six Axis Control, Reader Mode, DAS Mode, Factory Calibration, HD, IPS by Seth Spivey

I bought two of these monitors for my two home computer stations. One is used for work when I have many windows open, replacing a dual monitor setup. The other is mainly used for photo editing in Lightroom with some light play. I don't think it's necessarily the best choice for fast-paced games (shooters and action games) or watching heavy movies due to the lack of HDR and ultra-high contrast. For photo editing, multitasking, and general use, this is a great upgrade that can easily replace smaller multi-monitor setups. Sun (or bright light). The brightness is even. If you look at a completely gray screen, you will see some variations (dirty screen effect), but in normal use the screen is even, bright enough and comfortable to use. PPI is ideal and does not require scaling. Editing photos in Lightroom is a pleasure. The space is huge and really allows you to see things on a scale that is unusual when using a computer. Surprisingly, the speakers are decent. If you have cheap stereo speakers, these can easily replace them. I don't recommend using these speakers if your primary purpose is gaming or music. For my use, I was able to tidy up my desk by removing both sets of stereo speakers. Some cons: While I don't play on it much, I wish there was some sort of free-sync support, even if it was in the narrow 48-60 range. If you can't maintain a consistent 30 or 60 fps in your games, screen tearing will be more noticeable due to the sheer size of the display. I also wish there were more color options in the OSD. A factory pre-calibrated SRGB mode would be nice. My house is very bright so I would like it to be a little brighter for maximum brightness. It's not critical, but I would have liked to have guessed another 50 or so. Finally, due to the sheer size of the screen, the left and right edges (and to a lesser extent the top and bottom) obscure part of the screen, creating a blurry edge/shadow. It doesn't bother me, but it might bother some users. I've never been in a situation where the edges got in the way of my work. All in all a good general purpose monitor. As long as you don't need ultra-deep blacks, super-intense brightness, and don't play fast-paced games, it should serve most casual users well.
