Review on Delphi FG0435 Fuel Pump Module by Matt Schwartz

Not Enough Power: Fuel System

Maybe I'm unlucky, but this pump doesn't give my truck the extra boost that the cheap economy pump I had. My cheap pump worked great, but I managed. Replacing it with what I assumed would be the most reliable and capable pump was a mistake as I needed to replace the fuel tank and I didn't want to risk digging in there again if the cheap pump failed. I really regret that. So, I've read the specs for various pumps and see that the Delphi is only 18 gph while the cheaper TYC pump I supplied was 44-47 gph. If I read those flow rates correctly, that would explain the lack of power. The stock Delco GM and AC pump doesn't list the flow rate, which is where I checked, but read on a forum somewhere that it's around 24 gph. Not much more than Delphi pumps here. Then there's Airtex and Autobest, where their specs say flow rates range from 55 gph to 70 gph. Delphi pump, where in this case it results in poor performance. (Always manually clean the tank before replacing).

Pros
  • Sturdy Construction
Cons
  • Nothing Here
