Review on SUNLU Filament: Enhanced Dimensional Accuracy for 3D Printing by Javarie Malick

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Good filament, bad labels and spool

This filament produces excellent quality prints. When printing, there is a pleasant smell of freshly cut/sanded paper instead of the usual smell of plastic. There are two problems, maybe three for some. The coil itself indicates that the printing temperature is 170-190°C. The box says 200-230. So far I've made fairly basic prints with this filament, but I've been able to see conflicting information resulting in testing losing filament when printing more complex objects. I've used 200-210C with only a few filling issues. Second, I don't know how they wound it onto the spool, but I've had a few instances where the thread tried to pop out from under other layers and caused prints. fail. I probably wasted 50m of filament due to bad prints from wrapping it around the spool. I haven't had this problem with the 4 or 5 other brands I've used. A third potential problem is that the spool itself is very small in both diameter and width. I have ball bearing spool holders that work great with some other brands but they can barely handle this spool. It seems that he goes in one direction and pulls the holders to the side. I could see that some spool holders had problems with the small spool.

Pros
  • Very good value for money
Cons
  • Unbelievable price
