Review on 🚪 OTUAYAUTO Rear Tailgate Strut – Replacing OEM# 81771-1u000 for 2011-2014 Kia Sorento Liftgate Lift Support (Pack of 2) by Kevin Lawson

My original 2011 Kia Sorento tailgate lift supports (OEM Part 81771-1U000) failed because they could not support the tailgate when it was open and UP All the Way. How many times has the door hit me in the back of the head! Kia wanted $72 (with a $106.69 discount) for a pair of these. Revain had several aftermarket brands but I tried these OTUAYAUTO brands because they said they were engineered in Germany. The cost was about 60% off the discounted Kia price. OTUAYAUTO is neither the cheapest nor the most expensive aftermarket brand. Installation took less than 5 minutes. After installation I thought the door was stuck open but they are quite strong so it takes a bit more force to close the door (mind you I'm 65 years old). When opening the tailgate, it now goes up quite quickly, with a slight twitch at the top. I am very happy with this lift support and if I don't update this review I will still be happy with the purchase. (08/12/2021)
