later Put simply, this item is for people with large windshields (trucks, vans, etc.). I use it in my 2008 Dodge Ram pickup. Since I wanted the device to sit high on the windshield, I needed a strong mount that would hold my device without blocking my view of the road. This extender is strong enough to place the suction device behind the rearview mirror and extend the GPS in front of me. High as shown in the photos. A little pricey but works great. You'll find that the suction cup is incredibly effective (clean the windshield thoroughly with Windex and newspaper to remove the greasy film). I use my device in my truck and work on an off-road construction site. So far it hasn't broken the suction seal! Would recommend to anyone who needs a little longer than what comes with the GPS. It also comes with a mount that the device actually slides onto.
