It turned my regular TV into a Roku TV! I wanted this particular model (express+) because it has power and volume controls for the TV. An additional remote control is not required for this. I was expecting the remote for this to be infrared, but was surprised it wasn't. This is RF and works when pointed in any direction; even another room. The TV is controlled via HDMI-CEC. For this you need "enough" modern television. Mine is 8 years old and I have it. If it doesn't have CEC capability, you'll need a TV remote for power and volume. This was a refurbished product and it works and looks like new. I am very happy with it.
