Very quiet. As you can see in the photos, the fog comes from above on either side or one side or the other. You can also turn on a light that illuminates the floor like a night light if you want. Easy to clean and use. Ideal for sitting at a table or on a bedside table. I would suggest a larger one if you plan to use it for the entire room. One downside I see is that it runs on battery and only lasts about 10 hours before you need to charge it. In battery mode, however, you can take it with you wherever you go, even if there is no power outlet.
