If you press this tool directly onto the cork, it will definitely push the cork into the bottle! The correct way to use this device is to wiggle it from side to side and slide one blade at a time further down the edge of the cork. Using the device with this technique, you will never push the cork into the bottle. In addition, many other reviewers complain about the snapping of the fingers. This won't happen if you lower your teeth almost to the level of the cork (move from side to side) before you start twisting the handle and pulling up. When removing the plug, do not pull the device straight up! To remove the cork correctly and easily, twist and pull up at the same time.
