Unfortunately doesn't work well

Doesn't work with most closures. It is removed when the cork is 2/3 out. To finish, a corkscrew must be used. Bought to avoid a corkscrew. Unfortunately this doesn't work and one of the pins starts to bend. Try using 10 or 12 different wine bottles with the same poor results.

Pros
  • Has a beer bottle opener
Cons
  • Vulgarity

Don't be fooled: Kitchen and dining room

I've had a wine corkscrew like that before. Normally the product works very well in both removing and holding the cork. This particular knife is cheap for a reason. Usually he pushes the cork into the bottle. Pins that are meant to slide and hold the cork are not properly finished and are therefore more likely to leave you frustrated than enjoying a glass of wine. DO NOT buy this product, pay a little more and get one that you will enjoy for the rest of your life.

Pros
  • The cork doesn't go bad
Cons
  • Periodicity

Excellent Wine Bottle Opener

The product I received does not exactly match the product image. The pen feels cheaper and more versatile and doesn't have the DeVine logo. I originally bought it to open some old wines so as not to damage the cork which tends to crumble when using a corkscrew. After using it on my old wine bottles and learning how to open bottles with Ah-so, it has become my favorite wine bottle opener. If the product didn't look as nice as the picture, I would definitely give 5 stars.

Pros
  • Open a wine bottle without ruining or damaging the cork. Two hardened steel pins enclose the cork without damaging it. Also known as Butler's Friend/Waiter's Friend
Cons
  • Good but not great

DO NOT push straight down!

If you press this tool directly onto the cork, it will definitely push the cork into the bottle! The correct way to use this device is to wiggle it from side to side and slide one blade at a time further down the edge of the cork. Using the device with this technique, you will never push the cork into the bottle. In addition, many other reviewers complain about the snapping of the fingers. This won't happen if you lower your teeth almost to the level of the cork (move from side to side) before…

The teeth are too fine for stable operation

The teeth on this opener are too fine to grip corks properly. The first bottle I used it on was difficult to get out. The second bottle had a tighter cork and couldn't handle it at all. I have had the AhSo style for 30 years, which I bought from the Mondavi winery. It had thicker, stronger teeth and never had trouble pulling the cork. Unfortunately, after all these years, it finally broke. I thought one style of AhSo was similar to the other, but I was wrong. Tooth strength matters. Would not…

High quality gift

As Christmas approaches, I am looking for a unique gift. it fits 100%. This opener comes in a steel or aluminum box (sorry I can't handle all metals). It has a pleasant weight and looks and feels very high quality. It's shiny, but not super shiny. Just how I like it. There is a window at the top where you can see what you are gifting. The opener has its own protective cap that protects you from these two "pins". He also has a beer bottle opener which I'm sure will make my husband happy. At…
