The metal that makes up this grill is quite thin. It is flexible and had to be bent back into shape when picked up to make it flat again. It wasn't too strenuous, which I really appreciated. Metal that is too rigid and bent into the wrong shape would be far more frustrating. However, the fasteners that came with the grille were useless. Cheap plastic, bad screws and even the grill won't stay in place even when screwed tight. I ended up just buying black wide pan head screws and managed to secure them fairly well. After being very tight it got a lot stiffer but still remained flexible in the middle. I wouldn't expect it to take a really hard blunt hit, and the holes are quite widely spaced which would probably be pretty useless against puncture damage, but it looks good and seems good enough for some basic maintenance. I don't intend to abuse my speakers, however, and it seems good enough to protect them from accidental damage.
