Review on πŸ“» Pocket-sized LCR-TC1 Transistor Tester with Colorful TFT Display for Diode Triode Capacitor Resistor Transistor LCR ESR NPN PNP MOSFET by Roberto Strumer

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Be aware of what you're getting

There are countless copies of this very tool, scattered around the usual suspects who supply cheap Chinese electronics (despite Amazon). This shifts the rating from "is it good to get" to "is it good to get". If you were seriously expecting a lab-quality LCR and a $20 multi-tool, you're literally insane. If instead you understand exactly what it is and what effects it has, this is a fantastic all-in-one tester. The case, battery and cables are enough to make it stand out from the rest. It's very nice to be able to charge it up and then take it with you. If the battery ever dies I'm sure I can find a way to fix it - I assume that's true for most people. On the other hand, if you are new to electronics. It's still not a bad buy, just understand that it may distort or misunderstand some things. He will think that any electronic device that uses a resistor is a resistor. LED test? Yes it is a diode. Check bulb? Yes, it's a resistor! You may be surprised that this is technically correct. but perhaps we know them more commonly as more specific use cases. In any case, once you get the hang of it, it's just fantastic. My inner 5 year old was very excited when I first got this, and I tested a random selection of items I'd salvaged from burned electronics over the years. I was able to quickly identify an element that I thought was a solid state relay but was actually a bridge rectifier. One more thing, I wasn't even sure what it was - I thought it might be a diode which turned out to be a fuse. I could sort these things out manually if I ever bothered, but the fact that this automates the process makes it easy enough. This and of course a new toy so I must use it for something lol.
