Review on Optimize Bike Performance with Finish Line Ceramic Wet Bicycle Chain Lube by Justin Live

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Great for wet conditions

After experimenting with several types and brands of chain lube I settled on this lube for my mountain bike. It provides good lubrication in the wet and muddy conditions of the mountains of western North Carolina. Even after hours of mud, rain and numerous creek crossings, my chain is quiet and shifts smoothly. While it's good initially, its performance improves after a few uses as it connects to the chain - during this process you'll find the chain looking dirty and ugly; The chain will begin to blacken but will return to normal after a few cleanings and reapplication of this lube. While I love this wet mountain biking lube, it's not perfect for everything. In dry weather, it attracts a lot of dirt. Dust will stick to the outside of the chain, but it's actually very easy to wash or wipe onto a rag (and onto your foot). Because it attracts so much mud and dirt, I stopped using it on my road bike and switched to ProGold Products ProGold ProLink Chain Lube. Due to the fact that the Finish Line ceramic tile is connected to the chain, it required many cleanings and applications of ProLink to remove all Finish Line ceramic tile residue. So if you use this I recommend keeping it for the life of the chain. USE: I run my chain through a citrus degreaser after about 3-5 rides, then wipe it down with a shop rag and let it dry completely. I then apply lube, run the chain through all the sprockets, wipe the excess off the rings and sprockets and let it sit for an hour, then wipe the excess off the chain. Between cleanings I lightly rub the sides of the chain with a rag and most of the dirt is removed immediately.
