Review on LG 27GN950B UltraGear 4K 144Hz HDR Gaming Monitor with G-SYNC Compatibility and Pivot Adjustment - 27GN950-B by Ramesh Daniels

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Great monitor but needs QA work

I pre-ordered two of these in July when they were first released on Revain and followed them closely until I received them this week. B&H sent them out early but kept pushing back the delivery date. I've wanted to make the move to 4K for a long time and wanted something that would be good for both work and play. I do a lot of graphing and data analysis at work so I need screen access and I had 4K in the office before COVID so it was nice to find something to use at home. As for the game, I mainly play WoW and try my hand at FPS, MOBA and other AAA action games. I'm looking forward to Cyberpunk 2077 where this sweetheart will shine with the 3080. Unfortunately it doesn't have HDR1000 like the X27 or as many dimming zones, but for the price I'd rather go for a 55" OLED with gsync with HDR1000. - Build Quality - Excellent build quality, thin bezel design is very handy for dual monitor setup since the gap is minimal. Other companies. I have VESA mounts that I move on them to save more space. This turns display stands into fancy lamp holders. If I turn on video sync for the lights and plug in another monitor, they will Settings reset to default -_- Very annoying many flaws in terms of size Display is bright and colors are excellent As I don't have a 3080 yet and am using a 1060 6GB OCed I can use the YCB444 color profile with the Nvidia panel can only get up to 95Hz, which causes some tearing in 4K, but I still manage to get 30-45 fps at high speeds reach winds. the settings are quite tolerable (WoW, Valorant, Borderlands 3). When set to 1440p I can easily hit 70+ fps. One monitor is significantly brighter than the other, and the black tones are deeper. Monitors are factory reset with the same exact settings, use the same hardware to connect to the same graphics card. I swapped cables and connectors and still the same thing so I think I have a bad panel. For the price, QA/QC should be much better. This is a flagship model, so it'll be interesting to see how it performs. Hopefully we'll move on once the initial issues are resolved. A few people on Reddit are starting to get theirs too, so a lot more information is coming out.
