This works reliably on any Nikon, although the outdated screw-drive autofocus system makes it less useful on less compatible models. The depth of field at f/1.8 is so shallow that users will find it difficult to focus on moving subjects if they are limited to manual focus (such as with the D60 or D5000). On my D90 this lens is great - razor sharp with professional looking bokeh. I never liked the built in flash when using my other lens (Nikon 16-85mm) but I found that images taken with my 85mm lens looked completely different - the bokeh is so rich that the harsh background shadows captured with smaller lenses just vanish. in blur. Even with working autofocus on my D90, accurate focus tracking can be difficult when shooting moving subjects. I suspect if this lens were upgraded to AF-S it could focus a little faster (and not drain my battery as quickly). But overall it's a great lens for the price. Impeccable optical quality.
