If you are familiar with NA miata suspensions (91-97) you know that the OEM suspension uses a hard rubber bumper and rubber bellows that are one piece. Rubber bellows always break and the fender becomes hard over time. Miata bumpers have been changed to softer bumpers on later Mazda models and there are a number of aftermarket companies that make these softer bumpers as retrofits for older Miata. This KYB bumper and boot combo is made from material similar to those used on aftermarket or later Mazda parts. Also, the material on these bellows is much stiffer than the original and hopefully more durable. If you use secondary bumpers on the Miata you must also use secondary bellows and these were not designed together and usually have to be zipped to the shock to create a less than perfect fit. These KYB parts were designed together and the fender is held in place by bellows for a clean install. I've installed them on KYB AGX shocks and they fit tight but perfectly. Compared to the Original Equipment bumpers, I've noticed a significant improvement in ride quality when the suspension bottoms out with the bumpers installed. For $50 you can get upgraded fenders and bellows that fit and work great. This is about half the cost of other aftermarket products and they go together better.
