Don't use dry stuff for the drill bit

I bought these to drill holes in the heads of some porcelain Santas that I want to hang on my Christmas tree. I tried all sorts of drills around the house and then ordered this one. They got ALMOST ZERO stars until I found out. On the first try, I put on a 1 mm drill and started drilling. . It didn't even leave a mark on old Santa's head. boo! Then my husband tried 3mm. No luck. My husband then tried 3mm under running water (as I found online you have to drill porcelain under water). Success. But the hole was ridiculously large. Eventually I had amazing success with a 1mm on a Dremel (the drill bit just wasn't turning fast enough) with Santa standing in a coffee cup dipped in water so that the drill site had just enough water to cover it. The drill was drilled for each Santa in less than 15 seconds. I had to drill 18 Santas and used a 1mm drill until it broke, switched to a different drill for the last few holes and it looks barely used. For my purposes these bits are useless dry but they crawl underwater.

Pros
  • drill bit
Cons
  • some bits
