They are real
I was working on my friend's '98 BMW 318ti and both windows were broken and yes that is what you need to replace. What happens is that after a while the grease in the window rail loses its lubricity and makes the plastic part harder and it breaks. To fix the problem, buy a bunch of these (you'll need 2 per window) and buy white lithium grease at your local auto parts store. They are great for the job and so far very good.
