Thick and cumbersome for frames

This lid cannot be used with a "trim ring". It seems designed to be used alone. It's so thick and poorly designed around the edges that you have to use longer than regular screws/bolts to hold it in place. Plastic also scratches very easily. Simply wiping with a soft cloth will scratch the surface. I can't imagine it going on like this much longer.
