Review on πŸ“„ Epson DS-1630 Document Scanner - 25ppm Speed, TWAIN & ISIS Drivers, 3-Year Warranty with Next Business Day Replacement by Michael Duman

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Easy to use, scan quality

I had a hard time spending $200 on a machine that only scans, but I finally got around to it. This scanner is a replacement for an HP 5180 All-In-One that I only used for scanning. It printed great but cost too much ink to be the busy printer I need. I have an Epson Workforce 1100 with bulk ink system for cheap printing. To say this scanner is a huge improvement is an understatement! I review over 100 pages of homeschooling materials for my kids every week. It was tedious and time consuming on the old car but almost fun on this one. Scanning might not be very exciting, but it's great to get the job done with no communication errors and in literally less than half the time (this kid scans fast). I use an ADF for 75% scanning and a flatbed. for others. Both methods deliver equally excellent quality. There are many scanning options that can be easily and quickly changed if needed. When scanning a large number of pages to one file (45 is the maximum number of files I've saved as a full color file), the save process takes a little time after the scan is complete, but I just leave it in the background, it works Not. Don't slow down my computer at all. The scanner has a print function that prints the scanned image on a printer of your choice instead of saving the file first. This is the only feature I've found that doesn't work as I hoped, so I'm deducting 1 star. When using this function, it takes a very long time to scan compared to normal scanning. I thought I got some settings wrong, but so far I haven't been able to speed it up, which was a shame because a lot of my scans don't just need to be saved by printing. If I can solve this problem I will change my rating to 5 stars.
