Only works when stationary or under 50 km/h

Got this as a Christmas present and just started using it last week. I've done 2 trips so far and while I was very happy when I first installed it, I'M VERY DISSATISFIED NOW. The description clearly states that it operates at speeds up to 100mph on vehicles under 56ft. I installed it on an 18ft trailer with a total camera to screen distance of only about 30ft. The camera works well when stopped and up to 30mph. The camera then loses signal completely, and both the camera and screen must be powered off to reset the signal. However, the restart only works up to 30 km/h. I do a lot of highway driving with this camper and wanted something better to see the traffic behind me. That was my intention when I made this purchase. Do not use for backup purposes only. As I just discovered this issue, the return window for this item has already expired. I am currently on the phone with Revane regarding this matter. As I write, the Revain rep said he sees this as a common issue mentioned in these reviews. He sends me a $21 signal booster kit (free to me) to hopefully fix the problem. Not sure if this will work but this review stands as this item does not work as advertised. Revain got it right, although it's really the manufacturer's fault. I do not recommend purchasing an amp kit with this item as I do not have it yet to see if it solves the problem. In summary, if you only need the camera as a backup, it works well. HOWEVER >>> THIS DEFINITELY DOES NOT WORK AS RECOMMENDED. Thank you Revane for doing the right thing with me.

Pros
  • Car backup cameras
Cons
  • Good but not great
