Review on RAMPAGE PRODUCTS 31511 Locking Center Console - Denim Grey for 1976-1995 Jeep CJ & Wrangler YJ: Enhanced Storage and Security Solution by Piyush Ventura

I've written an epic novel about this thing, so if you want a quick and dirty explanation, here it is: Despite a few minor quirks and a steep price tag, this console is one of, if not the, best center console you can get for the police force by Crown Victoria. '98-'11 Police Bucket Interceptors. My vehicle is a 2011 Crown Victoria Police Interceptor. It's a great looking console and fits perfectly between the bucket seats. The fit is tight and doesn't move, but still easily slips back and forth or comes off. No assembly required, even though a bracket is included. My car came with a flat floor mount for police gear between the front seats to keep the console stable and snug to the floor mount. I'm sure if you didn't have a fancy mount it would fit just fine. In terms of color choice, my interior is tan with a brown steering wheel and dashboard, so gray was the best fit, black didn't really fit either, and spice brown didn't fit at all. It was difficult to determine the exact colors from the photos on the web, so I ordered all 3 colors and tried them out myself. The black is actually more of an anthracite gray and goes perfectly with the black interior of the Crown Vic. If you have a gray interior in the Crown Vic, the gray console is a match made in heaven, with black also pairing beautifully. If they did a brown version of this console with black cup holders I'd be thrilled. I looked at the cheap Walmart consoles and the overpriced Walmart vinyl armrest console before buying this one, and the armrest on this Rampage is very comfortable because it has a large flat surface. The armrest of the Walmart console is too small in my opinion. Price wise this console is quite expensive but it is exactly what I wanted so I bit the bullet and bought it. I have a feeling if I drop this thing from 10 feet it's going to shatter into a million pieces because it's a plywood structure. Also, raw wood and fabric stitching is hidden under easily removable cup holders, which is also a very good hiding place for "values”. CDs are a little cramped in the removable CD holder that sits inside the console, and the removable cooler is a great option. The lock and key aren't difficult, but will do the job temporarily if someone tries to hack into the console. The key is not always smooth when locking/unlocking, so you may have to jiggle and jiggle the key a bit. Why not 5 stars? Several reasons: The fabric around a few corners is not perfectly level with the surface and creates a slight crease in the fabric. The rest of the console doesn't have this problem. It's okay, but for almost a hundred bucks, is that too much to make it perfectly seamless? Another reason is the high price. This thing should sell for $60, not $85 or anything. But despite all those little issues, this console is one of the best you can get for the Crown Vic. If you've made it this far, I commend you, thank you.
