I think all dogs have the issue with walking away from the water bowl with a mouth full of water and subsequently dripping it all over the floor. Our 2 50-60 lb dogs are no exception. The problem was exaggerated by giving them a deep water bowl that was placed on the floor. Not only does this add to the splashing water issue but it can be bad for a dogs health to lean over too far to drink, especially if they drink quickly. The floating mechanism is pretty neat, it allows you to fill up the reservoir with a decent amount of water but the white part floats and only gives the dog access to a small portion. As the dogs drink the water level falls, along with the white part, and continues to give access to the same small portion of water above the float.This bowl helps fix the issue of them leaning over too far and limits the depth of the water they have access too. This decreases the splashing but doesn't fully solve the issue of them holding water in their mouths and dripping across the floor. I think this has been reduced slightly while using this water bowl but it is definitely still an issue.My wife isn't a fan of the plastic look so we might be looking for a replacement but this bowl seems sturdy and should last a while outside of the aesthetics.
