Review on Amcrest 4MP ProHD Indoor WiFi Camera: Advanced Security IP Camera with Pan/Tilt, Two-Way Audio, Night Vision, Remote Viewing and Wide 90° FOV, IP4M-1041B (Black) by Rodney Mendoza

This review is written from the perspective of a user who has installed and used multiple Wi-Fi and wired cameras in their home for more than 10 years. Please note that I have cameras that record to the NVR as well as cameras that simply record to the installed micro SD card. For the purposes of this review, the NVR setup was NOT used, but a micro SD card was used.1. Amcrest ViewPro App Camera Installation and Ease of Use: Easy installation with included hardware and cables: 5/5 SD card installation: 5/5 Easy installation compared to other security cameras: 5/5 Installation instructions: 5/5 Amcrest ViewPro Android App /iOS: 5/ 5In general, the installation is very simple. Note that this camera can be used with NVR setup as well as many other options. However, I chose to use it with the Amcrest ViewPro (WiFi) app as most users would go that route. The camera functions in the app are extremely intuitive and very easy to use. The PTZ settings are the best and smoothest of any other PTZ camera I've used, and the auto track feature allows the camera to automatically pan and tilt in the direction it detects movement. By far the best PTZ camera and app combo I've ever used! 2. Camera performance rating: Day performance: 5/5 Night/low light: 5/5 Clarity and contrast of objects and people: 5/5 Clarity and contrast of graphics and text: 5/5 Clarity at close range (1.50 m) and at a distance (15-20 feet): 5/5 Overall, the camera is very clear in very low light. I currently use it in my 2 car garage to keep an eye on everything and when it's pitch black in my garage I can see everything clearly thanks to the night vision camera function. However, it should be noted that number plates tend to reflect a lot of light back and are unreadable in these pitch black conditions. This is not a problem as any movement in my garage will turn on the garage light and the camera will quickly automatically stop night vision.3. Camera Rating: The overall rating is made up of the following weightings. Camera installation and usability score for the Amcrest ViewPro application (40% of the total score). Camera performance score (60% of total score). The calculation is as follows: 0.40 * (25/25) = 0.4000.60 * (25/25) = 0.6000.400 + 0.600 = 1.00 => 100% according to my score table below. Result 0-45% - poor result 45-54% - borderline result 55-69% - OK result 70-79% - good result 80-89% - very good result 90-100% - excellent Overall this is by far the BEST PTZ camera in this price range that I have ever used. ! You could easily spend double or triple what it's worth and not even come close to matching the performance of this camera. For the above reasons, I give this camera an overall rating of 5/5 stars when paired with the Amcrest ViewPro app.
