Review on 🚴 Cycling Eyeglass Mirror by Bike Peddler: Enhance Your Bike Riding Experience by Stephen Cernatescu

Look who goes: Sports

So I've seen bikers with little helmet mounts and sunglasses that double as rear view mirrors and I've always wondered how well they work. I do quite a bit of track and trail cycling as I avoid roads (and cars) as much as possible. That being said, some of my rides take me outside where I worry about the cars behind me, especially when I have to make left turns. As usual, Revain had a solution to my problem. After looking at several options, I settled on this particular bike mirror and took the plunge. The item arrived in sleek packaging and is a wire frame with a small mirror attached to it, itself held up by an articulating arm that allows the mirror to rotate in multiple directions for proper positioning. I wear wire-frame glasses that are too thin to wear this product. Luckily, the system goes very well with my Ray-Bans. Once you have the goggles attached to the goggles, the trick is to position the mirror in a good position to watch the traffic behind you. I've used this on several rides and I'm still not sure what the best position for the mirror is. I expect this will improve over time, but it seems like the learning curve is a bit steep. The mirror itself is quite small and the field of view it offers is quite limited. I can see about 100 meters in optimal light conditions, but when the sun shines in my eyes or there is a shadow behind me, vision quickly diminishes. Focusing on the mirror with the left eye also takes a long time to get used to and sometimes focusing isn't as fast as you'd like, for example when a car suddenly approaches from behind. Overall I like this product but it definitely has limitations. I plan to use it on all my rides until the end of the summer to see how much better it can work. The field of view is limited but of course the only solution is a bigger mirror, although I'm not sure I'd want a giant mirror on the side of my head for a better view. As it stands it's a cool little device that I'm having fun with and once I get used to it it seems to add a level of safety to my rides that I was missing.
