Review on πŸš— Enhance Towing Safety with Fit System 80900 Chevrolet/GMC/Cadillac Towing Mirror - Pair by Robert Ryokan

Revainrating 4 out of 5

In addition to the mirrors, instructions were also included on how best to attach the towing mirrors to the car.

Received and unpacked the towing mirrors this afternoon. In addition to the mirrors, instructions were also included on how best to fit the mirrors to the car's mirrors for towing. I read the instructions before trying to install it. Then when I tried to install them on the truck I had a very hard time getting the bottom tabs to rise above the bottom edge of the truck's mirror housing. I was putting too much pressure (or what I felt was becoming too much pressure) on the truck's transom axle, so I stopped trying and took it off. I place them in the yard in direct sunlight to keep them warm and allow the plastic tow mirrors to stretch out a bit for easier attachment to my truck without damaging anything. After sitting in the sun for about 1/2 hour I tried again to attach them to my truck. Although they were heated by the sunlight and seemed to expand so that the bottom edge of the tow mirrors were positioned over the mirrors of the truck, I found myself sitting with a thin putty knife between the bottom edge/clip of the tow mirrors and the mirror of the truck helped steer the clip/edge to extend and lift just enough to snap into place as they should. The clip design for the towing mirrors seems tight enough not to fall off when driving on the road, and the appearance of the towing mirrors is very beautiful. Inside each towing mirror housing are two strips of soft material to protect the finish of my truck's mirrors, which I found nice. The shape of the mirrors on the train part perfectly follows the contour of the truck mirrors, with no unnecessary gaps or gaps. The towing mirrors' rotating hardware feels solid/dense enough where they don't wobble, vibrate (too much) or lose adjustment, but give enough when you're not struggling with too much up/down, left/right movement , when you adjust them for the best view behind your towed vehicle. While I would have preferred the "lock down" feature of the towing mirrors I had on my 2000 Chevy (a thumbscrew that tightened the soft rod on the car's mirror), I think these clips are on the mirrors (for a 2011 Chevy ) will work very well. I just wish these mirrors weren't so difficult to put on. Haven't tried taking them off yet but I may update this review if there are any issues. (July 26, 2015): Okay, I've been using these mirror extensions for a while, I know, and I can express my years of feedback on them. As I said in my original review, the mirrors were a little tricky to latch, but I just removed them from my truck. I had no trouble removing extensions from the default mirror (no tools required like installation). The mirror extender lenses vibrate slightly while driving on the road, but no more than any other mirror extenders I've used on other vehicles. When someone adjusts the lenses, they stay in place and don't need to be readjusted over time. The tabs that hold your standard mirror extensions are very secure and you don't have to worry about them coming loose if you don't want them to come loose. In fact, I was parked at work and an inattentive driver who was parked next to me clipped my passenger side mirror. The other driver backed away (I was pulled into a space and he parked "nose in"). His mirror caught in the mirror extension on the passenger side of my truck, pulling the extensions and stock mirror to the front of my truck. The mirror extensions would not move to hold my stock mirror, but the contact loosened two of the three bolts/bolts holding my stock mirror to my truck door. I repaired my stock mirror with no issues, but was impressed that the aftermarket upgrades held up with no issues. In summary, I would recommend these towing mirrors to anyone who needs to see their 6 when towing a trailer.
