I bought this pencil sharpener and replacement cutter in August of this school year. I teach second grade and my students sharpen their own pencils. Kids are hard on things. Of course, he was subjected to some abuse. It's April now and I just replaced the cutter. It's really easy and quick to do. One of my students helped me. I've been familiar with pencil sharpeners for quite some time, and believe me, this is a pretty good solution to a common pencil sharpener problem. I've bought much more expensive sharpeners that gave up after a year of heavy use. I'm ordering a new replacement cutter today so I have a backup if next year's kids wear out the one I used today. I like the blue light function. I'm not sure how long this will last, but it keeps kids from sharpening their pencils forever. In addition, it is not quiet, but not annoying.
