This is a Garmin designed specifically for trucks. (I use it every day in my car and often when I rent trucks). If you've never driven a truck, you can still use this model, but it may be overkill. When you start it, it asks what vehicle you're using it for - a car or a truck. By the way, the boot process is now instantaneous. (With all my older Garmin watches, it can take me quite a while to get up and running.) The key element that makes this GPS better than Waze, Google Maps, etc. is that once you set it up, this GPS knows how tall you are. Truck is something other applications are not able to do. (You can also enter truck width and weight.) . This is very important when driving your truck through unfamiliar territory - Garmin knows which overpasses you are not allowed to drive under and where trucks are prohibited. That being said, on very rare occasions the unit makes an error about the height, so you don't want to just follow it blindly - keep reading the clearance signs. Garmin customer support has always been great and lifetime map updates are free on this model.
