It definitely works, but it's so sensitive that the slightest movement in any direction changes the reading. Also, its base is too narrow. So placing it perpendicular to the tire groove will leave too little plastic on the tire to keep it stable and level. I had to take a dozen or more measurements on each tire to get a good average. Overall, I got each front tire averaging 6.66mm between all 4 grooves, which is an 8.5/32. My handheld meter was between 8 and 9/32 and gave the same. It sure gets better once I get used to it, but it's frustrating when I'm taking many measurements in the same place and getting different results. Because of Block Sensitivity Plus, a wider base is needed each time to stabilize the block level on the bus. Not wider from left to right, but in the thickness of the base from front to back. It's about 1/2" side to side, but 1/8" to 1/4" front to back.
