Review on ๐Ÿ”ง DEWALT Mechanics Tools Kit and Socket Set, 204-Piece: The Ultimate MM/SAE Drive Solution (DWMT72165) by Curtis Domus

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Dewalt pulled out the old switch. The replacement kit still has issues.

So Dewalt changed this kit without updating the feature list (or model number) to reflect the pennies that were made with it. The original kit came with "deep laser engraving for easy nest size identification" as currently advertised on Dewalt and Revain's own page. About a year ago it was decided to switch to a cheaper marking method instead of etching; without transferring changes to customers or changing the model number. The ratchets are also of lower quality than the original (the original can be identified by the BLACK fins, the new set has gunmetal fins and cheaper internals). Revain and other vendors rely on the vendor-provided list of features, so only one organization is responsible here. Calling Dewalt does not remove the Deep Laser Engraving for Easy Socket Sizing feature from the list. They will just tell you "If you are unhappy with the kit, you must return it" (this shows no concern about the scam currently taking place. By the way, this is the definition of BAIT AND SWITCH. I received my first DWMT72165 and when shipped the 1/4" ratchet did not turn in any direction and the flipper did not move. All sockets also had fingerprints and nicks. I contacted Amazon immediately and arranged for a replacement. I received the replacement the next day , after returning the 1st. All tools look BRAND NEW and with that all ratchets turn and work perfectly (YEAH!). Unfortunately the case came with a large enough HOLE in one of the plastic loops and the other loop was severely compressed. The paint has peeled off the Dewalt logo in many places. I doubt the durability/durability of this product being in this condition when it is Comes in a protective box which I've looked forward to dropping Dewalt tools on since at least the mid 2000's. I finally did and it seems Dewalt isn't into quality anymore. 2 sets of $200 and both have something REALLY wrong BRAND NEW. Does quality mean something in the previous sentence? Just another company buying up money and no longer caring about their products, customers or reputation. SO glad I'm on the m18 platform!
