Review on Ultra Bright CREE LED Headlamp by Alex Britton

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Impressive budget light

Was looking for a new headlamp specifically with red LED function for camping and night photography and came across this one. For the money it seemed like a small risk compared to well known brands. I've used it 5-6 times and was impressed with the feature although I'm still checking the actual battery life vs advertised. Advantages: 1. Inexpensive.2. Functionality - High and low beams work well for their intended purpose.3. Red LED with separate power switch. This is a faint image, like most, but enough to set the camera up at night or consult a star map, for example. Comfortable - Lightweight, the headlight strap and shape are very comfortable.5. Waterproof - I took it out once in the rain and had no problems, but haven't tried it through the bell yet. Cons: 1. There is no blocking between the red and white LEDs, which means you can turn on both LEDs at the same time, which in practice you probably never will.2. You must switch between all lighting modes (bright/low/flashing/off) each time you use it. Overall I'm very impressed for the money. While some people would rather pay more for a big brand, this flashlight is for anyone on a budget or maybe just starting out in mountaineering.
