Yes this is an attractive corkscrew for the bar and would be great for the person who likes to open a bottle or two a day. Month. Unfortunately, it's not suitable for those who drink wine more regularly compared to Rabbit or some of the other Metrokane offerings. I have a wine website and have been writing for a local wine magazine for many years. I've tried many corkscrews, including electric ones, but in all other cases I use the Metrokane Rabbit. The Metrokane uses a teflon-coated screw (a screw that goes into the cork). They are excellent for one to two hundred bottles. During this time, they slide into the cork like a hot knife through butter. However, over time, the coating will begin to wear off, making it more difficult for the worm to drive the cork in. The bunny has a replaceable worm, so you can swap it out for a few bucks every year or two. The worm on this model is not replaceable, so the whole thing must be replaced to restore usability. Be sure to remove the foil or wax from the top of the cork before opening to prolong the life of the corkscrew. They also try to list "short wings" as a trait. Although most bottles don't require a lot of leverage to open, the short wings that reduce available leverage are just a feature of looks, not function. Finally, the sides you press against the neck of the bottle to keep it in place when using this product feel a little flimsy and fragile. I probably won't be using this enough to really test the durability, but it's another indication that this product is more for casual use and frequent display. If that's what you're looking for, you've come to the right place. If you open bottles more often and want to worry less about how it looks on the shelf, the Rabbit model is more effective.
