Review on Kenwood KCA-RC35MR Remote Control: Compatible with KMR700U/550U/350U Models by Dan Buycks

I installed it next to the driver's seat as I don't like asking guests to change songs or volume while driving. This requires drilling a 3/4" mounting hole and accessing the back of the mount. It has 4 wires - +12v, ground, a signal wire that goes to the radio and a "backlight" wire that I know what. The best I can say is that the device has no backlight, so I really don't know what this cable is for. radio and your power supply. You can turn off the radio with this remote control, but not turn it back on. Overall I'm very happy with it and hope it lasts a long time. The +12v line comes with a 1a micro fuse in a small bracket that you must remove to install the bracket through the 3/4" hole. The signal line comes with a barrel style quick disconnect if you get there want to plug in a cable and use it, not sure what the benefit of this is as the other lines don't have a quick connect and you probably don't remove the remote that often - I cut mine off.
