is the softest blanket I have ever bought for my little 7 year old. It is perfect for this age group and toddlers. (might be a bit bigger for babies) BUT you can buy and keep until baby is older. You rarely find this softness at this price point. The only negative thing about this blanket is that the picture shows numbers, you will receive it with carnations/flowers along with the lovely picture. I'm not sure if they stock both, but I noticed that other reviews also had flowers instead of numbers. My other daughter got a smaller comforter from her aunt when she was a toddler, the softness is beyond compare. As for washing, the label says "HAND WASH ONLY" but I tossed it in the washing machine on a "RINSE" cycle with just a softer cloth and tumble dried on "LOW" heat, still EXTREMELY soft! this will be my daughter's eternal blanket!
