I threw away the shipping box so I may not be able to return or exchange it but I hope so. Why: My laptop emits a small beep every time a peripheral is plugged in or unplugged. When this adapter is plugged in (to connect a mouse with a USB cable) the noise repeats over and over again until I remove it. The operation of the mouse is also somewhat incorrect when I connect a mouse via this adapter. I've used the mouse with a different adapter with no problems, so I'm pretty sure the mouse isn't the problem.
