Review on LIBERTY 18 Inch Soft Close Bearing (941805) by Balthazar Cooper

I bought this to replace the cheap sliders that came with my daughter's Ikea dresser. After a while, the original sliders in the Ikea dresser began to buckle under my daughter's weight as she pulled the drawer down when it was fully open. As a result, the drawer no longer slides out smoothly. No matter how hard I tried with my hands to get the plastic sliders back to their original shape, the box still didn't move smoothly. Also, I didn't like that the original plastic sliders didn't close smoothly. Whenever my 6 year old daughter closed the dresser drawers, everyone in the house knew about it. Such a loud noise! Now with the ball-bearing Liberty drawer with soft closing, the drawers close softly and gently. So pretty! However, note that the installation is not easy. There are many installation videos on YouTube. However, these videos suggest one thing: your dresser is perfectly measured and symmetrical. By this I mean that the left and right sides of the box are exactly the same size and the angles are exactly 90 degrees. When I installed the first set of Liberty sliders, I was very disappointed to see that the sliders didn't line up properly. I'm not sure if the chest of drawers wasn't perfectly assembled in the Ikea factory (probably) or if the pieces of wood in the chest of drawers have shifted or warped a bit in the 5 years we've had this chest of drawers what it is a little asymmetrical. So I had to remove the sliders and carefully measure everything one by one (left side and then right side), all the while bending over my body so I could look at the back of the dresser to measure things. I found the right side was 1/16 inch different than the left. This difference is enough to change the position of the sliders and thus cause the drawer to not open and close properly. However, let me stress that this is NOT an issue with the Liberty drawer. It's a dresser problem! I just want consumers to be aware before installing this new slider.
