This clock cannot set itself from an external time source such as WWVB Atomic Clock Radio in Fort Collins, Colorado or RDS data from FM radio stations. This is another example of crazy marketing trying to trick consumers into thinking they're getting something special. "SmartSet" simply means a factory preset time, and a small coin cell battery keeps track of time when not connected. If the battery dies or is removed for more than a few minutes, the clock will lose its time and will not reset. To me, this is misleading advertising at best. Factory presetting the time and relying on a backup battery to save time as a kind of "impressive" or "intelligent" auto-setting technology is neither impressive nor innovative, bordering on misleading advertising. There is nothing special about these watches. It's just a regular watch with a factory installed backup battery. I will promptly return this item. To me, a self-adjusting watch is one that gets its time from an outside source. It is just a clock preset at the factory. Super suck.
