Review on ๐Ÿšฒ SKS-Germany 11313 Anywhere Bicycle Attachment Water Bottle Mount - Convenient & Stylish Black Holder by Jarod Berthelson

Works but could be better

I ordered these to fit bottle cages on two of my fixed gear bikes, neither of which have a bottle cage. Tired of carrying a bottle in the back pocket of your jersey or not having one at all? Anyway, the mounts arrived and I proceeded to install them. The design is pretty good, but they aren't as good as they could be because the production isn't that great. The main bracket is made of soft plastic. That's not really an issue, except that I'm pretty sure flexing this plastic is going to be one of the limiting factors on how tight you can make it. The main problem I have is the metal plate that fits into the plastic bracket and attaches to the screw. First, it's a loose interference fit, so it's easy to accidentally shift when tightening or loosening the bolts. In this case you will need to remove the rubber backing to fix the problem. You can see in one of my photos that I removed the screw + metal plate from the plastic. Also, the threads on the metal plate don't match the screw very well. I'm not sure if it's a slightly different size or if the machining tolerances are just poor, but I'm really worried about the threads stripping when tightening the screws. Velco belts are actually better than expected. I was going to use rubber backed zippers to install this but found that they were actually less effective than straps. The straps hold up very well. But either way it still doesn't hold up well enough to not move at all when you pull a bottle of water. The brackets can still be moved back and forth even with strong tightening. I would recommend modifying the design in a couple of ways: First, make the bracket out of CNC machined aluminum. Second, improve the processing of the threaded steel plate that the screw enters, so that it enters really smoothly. Third, change the harness system to something you can tension with sideways torque, i.e. H. Make the bracket in two separate pieces that can move together or sideways, and after attaching the straps, you can tighten the screw that faces the side of the bike. to bring the two parts closer together and pull the strap as tight as possible with a simple pull. This would make it a better product and a more permanent solution. While I understand that this will likely double or triple the cost, I would be willing to pay for it. Still ok, hence 4 stars.

Pros
  • Highly rated by testers for grip and durability
Cons
  • Not as thick as other picks
