Review on ReadyLift 69-5421 2-Inch SST Lift Kit for Toyota Highlander by Yousef Abood

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Great product but not for the amateur installer.

First of all I have to say that this lift kit was simple and effective. I will upload pics after changing my tires but even with stock wheels and tires it looks good and does what it's supposed to. It is light and the components are of such high quality that the bolted original car parts look worn. At the same time, I'm an experienced home mechanic and wouldn't attempt to install this kit myself if I knew what that meant. The instructions are pretty simple and not difficult to follow, but be careful. Watch LOTS of YouTube videos on EACH component: removing the front struts, removing the front anti-roll bar, removing the rear shock absorbers, etc. You'll need some pretty specialized tools like socket wrenches (not the kind of ratchet wrenches we all have) , and if your car is more than a year or two older, you might as well have a professional mechanic remove and replace the stabilizer bar links before you start. Or just buy spare parts and cut off the old ones yourself. (It's REALLY frustrating that Toyota puts the bolt head on the back of the stabilizer bar pivot on the humble Camry, but the Highlander has a special pivot end where you have to put the hex wrench in the socket. Good luck with that.) While installation was a nuisance , it's not the fault of the product or the company. Just make sure you know what you're getting yourself into. The lift does not affect ride or handling and does not affect fuel economy. It will be interesting to see what happens with the fuel economy as I put on bigger tires but so far I'm very happy with the setup. Now I have the coolest Highlander around, which is a bit like the coolest Hyundai Elantra around. Except the best. I ride from fire road to trail quite a bit and am happy to test out the improved ground clearance, even with the stock tires. Another reason not to sacrifice the Highlander's performance and fuel economy for the outdated and boring 4Runner.
