Review on ๐ŸŽฎ Jlink Gaming Monitor with Flicker-Free DisplayPort, 165Hz Refresh Rate, Freesync, Low Blue Light, and Tilt Adjustment for Enhanced SEO. by Grant Feuerstein

Revainrating 4 out of 5

An amazingly reliable gaming monitor!

Today I'm reviewing a 27-inch FHD 165 Hz gaming monitor from Jlink. If you're like me, you probably shudder at the thought of using an unfamiliar brand for your gaming rig, but looking at the specs for this monitor made me tempted to at least try. With that said, let's see, shall we? After the courier showed up and I opened the shipping box, I was greeted with a very plain brown box with a black outline depicting a monitor and text, which I think is fairly common for many of these brands at Revain. However, as I said before, this fact doesn't really bother me as long as the product puts the money saved into product performance. After all, that doesn't mean that you look at the box every day after you've set it up and put it to work. As they always say, it's not the outside that matters, it's the inside, so let's see what goes with it! When I opened the box, I saw the monitor itself, a power adapter, an HDMI cable, two parts of the stand, two screws to attach the stand to the base, and instructions. I won't lie, I was a little disappointed just because I would like to see a monitor with 4 inputs, with at least 1 HDMI and 1 DisplayPort cable. While this isn't the end of the world as the cables aren't exactly expensive, I think it would definitely be an advantage to include them. Assembling the stand was a breeze, literally just tightening two screws and then sliding the monitor onto the arm, which is very similar to almost every other monitor I own. The stand itself seems quite heavy, but cannot change the height. It can easily turn down or up, but is not physically able to go up or down. It also can't rotate, forcing you to rotate the entire block. Granted, this is a fairly inexpensive monitor, but I still wish I could at least raise it or lower it. Anyway, enough of the aesthetics, let's get to the functionality. There is absolutely nothing wrong with this department. I have it next to my personal daily driver's monitor, which is a pretty good quality 27" IPS 4k 144Hz panel so it's met with quite a bit of resistance, but despite that it still looks very good. The panel is VA so the blacks are quite dense and there is absolutely no blacklight/IPS smearing on it. Windows first picked it up on a 60Hz SDR monitor, which confused me a little, so I went into the menu and looked around. Once you go to the options and enable the HDR and Gsync/Fsync features, this thing is going to break. Windows then lets you set HDR and 165Hz. Color rendition is pretty good for a VA panel and as a VA it certainly has an excellent contrast ratio. As for HDR, I can't confirm the monitor's HDR rating, but I assume it's HDR400. Either way, it works and it still looks pretty good for the price. I do notice that the color options stop changing when you turn on HDR, but this is definitely not the first monitor I've seen that on. Finally, I would say that the anti-reflective coating is not bad. If you look at my photo of pink sand on the speaker, this photo was taken with several extremely bright grow lights placed about two feet from the monitor, which was about the worst case, and that's all that came out. It shows up a lot less in actual use, my camera phone just makes it more visible. Of course, what good is a gaming monitor if you don't use it for gaming. For that, I tested it with an RTX 3090, which can obviously handle 165 fps at 1080p all day long. I'm happy to report that this monitor is holding up great. I was able to use it for games like Dying Light 2 or action games like Doom Eternal with no real problems. The image is crisp, blacks are actually black and not just grey, thanks to the VA panel rather than IPS, and I haven't encountered any real issues with ghosting. I really enjoyed gaming on this monitor despite having only 1/4 the pixel count of my main monitor. Despite all that, I have another problem with this monitor that is not related to the hardware itself. - but advertising for him. Jlink please if you want to sell computer equipment and accessories please provide full specifications. Potential buyers need to know exactly what they're buying before they click that button. Some of the specs missing from this product page include backlight type (edge-lit, local dimming, FALD?), HDR rating (I'm assuming HDR400 here, but nowhere in the ad is the actual rating mentioned), brightness . (in line with the HDR rating), whether the panel is 8-bit or 10-bit color, what's included, contrast ratio, warranty, etc. You can get away with missing information in some markets, but in such a competitive market like a gaming monitor market, you need to make sure your buyers know exactly what they are buying or they will most likely transfer their money to another brand that provides that information. This is actually a really solid monitor for the price, I see no reason to hide any information and in fact I'm pretty sure if everything was listed here they would actually be selling a lot of these monitors. With that in mind, I give this monitor 4 stars. Subtracting half a star for the lack of a DisplayPort cable and half a star for the lack of information on the display. To be honest, even for its price, the monitor is a really good option and I couldn't find any flaws during testing. I only hope that the manufacturer takes the time to read this and make the appropriate corrections to their product advertisements. You've got a good monitor in your hands, they just have to tell everyone exactly what they're getting. [Update] I noticed that since my initial review, they have started updating the information on the product page. I could add more, but I think it's a great start. When they get a list of the rest, I'll revise my guess.
