As an 'extension' for headphones used for listening only, this is an excellent product. The durable cables worked well in my computer's jack and the sound was the same as if I just used the original cable myself. However, when used with headphones or headphones with a mic, it won't work for the mic (people on the other end of the cable won't hear you). The cable provides an outlet. Reading the description again, it's true that it doesn't claim to work with microphone transmission, but it says it works with smartphones (iPhone/Samsung/etc), so it's a bit misleading. Great sound, but no. to be able to type as needed hence only 3 stars.
