I'm a professor so I read a lot and sit in front of the computer a lot. I love the progressive nature of my (custom made, insanely expensive) regular progressive glasses because I hate taking my reading glasses off and on. However, for athletic and aesthetic reasons, I prefer to wear contact lenses for most of the day. What to do? Well, I started looking everywhere for ready-to-use progressive reading glasses so I could economically switch between reading, using the computer, and walking without blurring. I found just one eyewear brand that did this for a reasonable price: Foster Grant's "Multifocus" glasses. The concept of the finished varifocals is ingenious. I really don't understand why Foster Grant seems to be the only company making them. They are slightly more expensive than regular cheap reading glasses. But since I lose them less often because I put them on and take them off in fewer situations, not to mention the additional benefit I see more clearly in more situations, they are absolutely worth every penny. The CHARLSIE design in particular: many female friends and a few male friends tried them on and Charlsie looked incredibly good on almost all of them. This doesn't apply to some of the other variations of this line I've tried; Charsi somehow blends unusually well into faces. Also, most of the other designs in this line are made out of thick plastic, which I think can impair peripheral vision a little, or at least be a little distracting. I can see them around the edges but not as clearly as the others. While it would be nice if the FG had an even wider range of options, I really doubt I could ever do anything better than the Charlsea look in particular. ) it would be better if the top area was completely uncorrected but with some reading correction because I would prefer not to remove it at all for a crystal clear view. It would be really cool if they could add blue light blocking. for screen time at night, like some other Foster Grant glasses (I'm happy to pay extra for them!) - I have a very large head (I can almost never buy a large hat off the counter, for example). In my ideal world, Charlsie would be a bit taller for me, but that also probably means the current size would fit other people better. Either way, the stakes are pretty low, as the earcups are articulated and adjustable, so they fit a wide range of head sizes quite well. But still, these glasses are ALMOST PERFECT and WAY SMARTER than just about any other pair. reading glasses on the market which I am very happy to receive as is. PS Despite my rather great enthusiasm for these glasses, I have to point out that no products or the like were made available to me for this review. I just really value intelligent design and I want companies that make intelligent and user-friendly decisions to benefit from user-friendly design decisions. And it's a very intelligent concept on every level.
