Italian design? May be. Italian craftsmanship? Absolutely not!

The description of the Luigi Bormioli Michelangelo Masterpiece boat set is fascinating to read. Well, fiction is exciting quite often! Be that as it may, the decanters have a pleasing shape, but the flaws are numerous and obvious. When I unpacked it, I was amazed at its size. For making salad oil and vinegar for food, they are huge. If they were a little bigger, they would be better suited as wine decanters or decanters. Each vessel is about seven inches high and has a base four inches in diameter. They take up a significant part of the table space when eating. The corks are heavy, but they dangle in the jars. Therefore, the tightness is not guaranteed with inserted plugs. Don't overfill those big bottles with oil and vinegar; Without a good seal, the contents won't stay fresh beyond mealtime. Less expensive kits usually solve this problem with a rubber rim around the bottom of the cork. In more expensive kits, the stop glass is ground down for a tighter, more precise fit. The description also mentions a "pouring rim". Mine didn't even have a lip. The rim should have a smooth rim, just like a drinking glass or even a regular glass pitcher. But if you run your finger around the necks of these glass bottles, they get sharp. The top of the glass neck appears to have been cut off and shown to the buff, but not actually in contact with the buff. When something so simple and basic seems unfinished, it would be ridiculously impossible to ask for a pinch to give them some sort of spout. According to the items in the product listing, they are "imported from Italy". The description states that Luigi Bormioli "designs and manufactures the Michelangelo line in Parma, Italy." This may be true of some items in the Michelangelo line, but the label on the decanter set I received clearly states in English and French that THIS is made in China for Luigi Bormioli. Now I'm wondering if the "lead free" claim is false? I was expecting something well done. This set is a big disappointment.
