Review on Bexlands 0-1 Inch Outside Micrometer with Graduation by David Dortch

Works well not the best quality

Basically a metal micrometer with some plastic parts which makes the whole tool look cheap. However, it works well and I was able to calibrate it to 0 with the tool that came with it with no problem. You just stick it in the hole and twist it in any direction, so no problem. I'm no expert when it comes to micrometers, but this tool is easy to use. After calibrating, I unscrewed it all the way and screwed it back in a few times and it still stops right at 0, which is a good sign. In addition to the large knurled size adjustment knob, there is also a smaller knob on the end that clicks like a ratchet to prevent excessive pressure on the part being measured. It feels comfortable and works well. The locking mechanism is plastic but works perfectly. It's only secured with a Phillips screw, so you can probably tighten it if it doesn't snap into place. The plastic pieces on each side of the tool help prevent damage when you're working with delicate materials and putting it down somewhere, so I'm glad they used plastic there. The manufacturer recommends calibrating before each use and it drifts. a little if you grip the object tightly. Overall it seems very accurate and for my hobbyist needs 0.0001 inch is more than enough. The supplied plastic box contains a micrometer and a calibration key, but it is not of very good quality. The tool is too heavy for the cheap plastic they used and came broken leaving the micrometer hanging around in the case. Not a big deal, but it would be nice if they used better plastic for the storage case. I'm happy with this tool overall, it's good for basic hobby use for machining measurement.
